THIS COURSE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING NATIONALLY RECOGNISED UNITS OF COMPETENCY:

  • TLID0020 Shift Materials Safely Using Manual Handing Methods

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This Manual Handling Training course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely perform manual handling tasks in the workplace. Participants will learn how to identify manual handling hazards, assess risks, and apply safe lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and moving techniques to minimise the risk of injury.

Work must be carried out in accordance with relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, regulations, and workplace procedures relating to the manual handling and movement of loads. Training includes the application of safe manual handling principles when moving materials and equipment as part of day-to-day work activities. These skills are commonly performed under supervision and within a team environment.

Safe manual handling training is essential for reducing workplace injuries, improving workplace safety, and assisting employers in meeting their legal obligations under Australian Work Health and Safety legislation. In Perth and throughout Western Australia, employers have a duty of care to identify and control risks associated with hazardous manual tasks. This course helps workers understand their responsibilities and apply safe work practices to prevent musculoskeletal injuries in the workplace.
